Description:
Plenty of parking at the east trail head. The first mile starts out very gentle in a valley surrounded by grasslands and nearby cows. The path is wide and the area is secluded and quiet. The path then takes a turn up the steep foothills and you start to gain elevation. Soon you meet an intersection with Belcher Hill Trail which is a nice loop that gains elevation and has beautiful views of the nearby reservoir, North Table Mountain, and Downtown Denver. In late November, this trail had a fair amount of mud and snow.
Recommended For:
- Fall and Winter Hiking.
- Families with preschoolers who like to walk 1-2 miles.
- Families who carry their children in kid carriers.
- Families with older avid hikers.
Not Recommended For:
- Hot sunny days; there is little shade.
- Families with school age children who want to do more than the 2 mile out and back.
- Anyone afraid of dogs.
Points of Interest:
Often you will see cattle grazing in nearby fields.
